Uganda Women Development Network
Uganda Women Development Network (UWODEN) is a women led organization which was formed in January, 2014 in Isingiro District with the aim of inspiring and empowering all Ugandans to develop themselves, economically, politically and socially. As UWODEN, we recognize the need to expand opportunities and use the available alternatives for improving access to basic services for Ugandans as a means for sustainable inclusive development and a better life.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To mobilize human, financial and other related resources needed for the development of the organization programmes
- To ensure that people of Uganda have access to clean & safe water and proper sanitation
- To ensure and encourage public participation in the management and protection of the environment and its natural resources
- To support other community initiatives with focus on using sustainable technologies to enhance development
Governance Structure
The governance structure of Uganda Women Development Network (UWODEN) comprises of the Annual General Assembly (AGA), The Board of Directors and Secretariat. The Annual general Assembly is the supreme body of UWODEN. The members of the AGM are compounded by heart and zeal to achieve the UWODEN mission and vision as one of the key aspirations of human development.
The AGM meets every year to give direction to the organization. They review reports, make recommendations and give direction. The Board presents the reports and all the accountabilities in accordance with the constitution. The Meeting is presided over by the committee headed by the AGM Chair person. They also select the Board every after 3 years with recommendations from different institutions
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is composed of six (6) female members. This organ is chaired by a lady as provided for in the constitution. The seventh person on the board is the Executive Director (ED) who is an ex-officio and secretary to the board. This board members work together executing different responsibilities aimed at achieving UWODEN mission & vision and are mandated to oversee the project management and implementation of programs. They directly supervise the Secretariat. The board meets quarterly and reports to the AGM. The election of the board is done in a way to reflect a broad scope of expertise, with all members having a strong and demonstrated commitment towards supporting UWODEN works

It is our hope that perusing through our website and finding the information you seek; you gain a sense of who we are in the heart of UWODEN.
One of the impressive things is that we have spearheaded the development and implementation of the Uganda Women development network’s strategic plans, values and provided leadership & direction to the administration and technical staff towards achieving the organization’s mission. With my great passion and experience in leadership, we have united and built a strong team at Uganda Women Development Network by providing guidance and coaching which has and is helping the organization to achieve its mission and vision.
This team is incredibly empathetic, compassionate and passionate about their work, they are also highly skilled, professional and extensively trained at handling their respective tasks. All of our team members are university educated, with most having achieved either a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in their professions.
